Hi there,

I am wondering if anyone knows a formula for this problem in the attached picture.

I am trying to show each Stand ID (Column A) with each species (Column E-H). In my new spread sheet I want it to look like the second picture attached each species (G) seperated into individual stands (A) without having to manually put in each Stand ID with each species associated with that stand. Does anyone know how to do this or a formula for it? Thanks

Your species have multiple stands. I don't think a formula is going to do it. And then just as say that, somebody might get creative. You can use VSTACK and Unique to give you a single column list of Species, but then how do you pair up the multiple Stands with a Lookup?

In my opinion, you're going to need a macro.

Well, as VSTACK and UNIQUE were mentioned:
A point to start could be:
Excel Formula:
=SORT(FILTER(UNIQUE(VSTACK(CHOOSECOLS(A2:H21,1,5),CHOOSECOLS(A2:H21,1,6),CHOOSECOLS(A2:H21,1,7),CHOOSECOLS(A2:H21,1,8))),CHOOSECOLS(UNIQUE(VSTACK( CHOOSECOLS(A2:H21,1,5),CHOOSECOLS(A2:H21,1,6),CHOOSECOLS(A2:H21,1,7),CHOOSECOLS(A2:H21,1,8))),2)<>0),1)

(probably it is worth separating into stages, using LET - unfortunately I have to go offline now, so will not experiment with it - I'm still not good in these new formulas)
