I am experiencing strange behavior in Excel, and am hoping someone here can help shed some light on it. It's a bit hard to explain in only words, so I recorded a video so you can see what is happening. It's less than 90 seconds.

Basically, a formula is supposed to be in a certain cell but doesn't appear to be there. But if I change the value in a cell in the same row (the cell address is part of the formula) the formula suddenly appears.

Note: in the video I refer to a cell as having a "global" in it. What I meant to say was "Named Range". I refer to them as globals in the workbook I'm creating, since "Named Range" doesn't mean anything to many of my users since they are not Excel experts.

Let me know if you have any idea what might be going on. I'm baffled.

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
I'm so sorry. After posting this, I realized the problem is not what I thought it was. There is NOT supposed to be a formula in the cell I was referring to. So, the problem is different than I thought. The problem actual is that at :55 into the video when I type something into a certain cell, the formula appears in a nearby cell but it SHOULD NOT. Why is the formula appearing in a cell that is empty? Is Excel automatically putting the formula in there because it existed in a few cells above it? Could it be assuming it is supposed to be there? If so, how can I make sure this doesn't happen? This could really screw up my users if formulas start appearing in cells where they should not exist.

Under File - Options - Advanced under Editing Options see if "Extend data range formats and formulas" is checked, if it is try unchecking it and see if it makes a difference.... it shouldn't but maybe.
