Hey there

I have a spreadsheet I’m trying to make for a point system for cards.

So I had A1 as name, B1 as placement (1,2,3,4) and a points earned total in C1. So 1=25, 2=20, etc. But I now want to add one more addition to the formula. I want to add a new column in C1(total points will move to D1) and I want the new C2 if it says “Y”, then add 5. Ive attached a screenshot of the current formula I have and columns I’m looking to use. So basically I can’t figure out what to add to the formula to add 5 if c2 =Y. So the row 2 should equal 30 basically.

Thanks for the help!

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Hi & welcome to MrExcel.
How about
Excel Formula:
=CHOOSE(B2,25,20,15,10)+(C2="y")*5

Thank you for the reply. I still need the IF formula there though I think, because D depends on the number/placement B has. I need it to figure out what to use in addition to my IF formula in D to add the 5 if there’s a Y in C2

Have you tried what I suggested?

the choose formula on its own in D2? No, I don’t think I understand why you’d use that. How will D2 know if 1=25, 2=20, etc from B2?
B2 is a drop down of either 1, 2, 3 or 4 and depending on that number is how much the total should be in D2. So I’m not sure how a choose command will know this since 25,20,15,10 are based on what’s entered in B2

How do you know if it will work or not, if you don't actually try it?

How about
Excel Formula:
=CHOOSE(B2+1,0,25,20,15,10)+(C2="y")*5
