Trying to figure out a formula that will assign the largest number in a row a value. For example, the largest number in the row below is 53, so I would like for the formula to = VSS4. Thanks in advance!

Excel Facts

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
Welcome to the MrExcel board!

The basis of what you want I think is below but ..
a) is it possible and
b) if so what do you want to do if
.. the maximum value occurs more than once in row 2? That is what if 3 cells were all 53?

Excel Workbook
ABCDEFGH
1VSS1VSS2VSS3VSS4VSS5VSS6
20.115.523.35336.77.7VSS4
Assign to max
