Formula help needed

I need some help here. I've looked everywhere but can't seem to find it.
I have a due date in B2 and =TODAY() in A1. I need a formula that says if B2 is <= today then it will say "late" but if B2>today then it will say ""

please help. These formulas confuse me big time.
