I am hoping someone can help me.
I have a spread sheet that has multiple columns with different texts, I would like to assign each text a value and calculate the total, for example:

A1 has the word YES with a numeral value of 3
B1 Has the word Maybe with a value of 2
C1 has the word No with a value of 1

In D1 I would like the total value: in this case 6 to show.

Please help.

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
Try the below

the values you have assigned to Yes, No and Maybe as stored in the formula which you can change

Excel Workbook
ABCD
1YESMaybeNo6
2
3
4
5
Sheet2
