Formula for counting colors?

hi,
i have a table with cells that are one of 3 different colors (green/yellow/red).
is there anyway that i can count lets say the total number of RED cells in A1:A10?

I think this may help you. Till now I don't know whether there is any option to do that using only formula. You may have to use VBA to sort out your issue.

thanks. unfortunately, i can't use any VBA to make this happen. (the program i'm using won't allow VBA use). I'm forced to see if i can find a way to use only a formula or two.

If you are manually changing the colors, how do you decide which color to make them?
