Brace matching, the formula syntax highlighting feature that momentarily highlights matching pairs of parentheses while you edit a formula, has just stopped working for me. I'm only experiencing this in Excel templates that I use frequently; if I launch a fresh instance of Excel, it behaves as expected. However, others with the same version of Excel are not experiencing this issue when opening the same files that are causing me pain.
Brace matching doesn't work whether I edit a formula in the formula bar or in a cell. All the matching sets of parentheses are still color coded; cell references still display the color-coded border around the referenced cell; etc. All other syntax highlighting help still works, except brace matching. If anyone has ideas as to what might be going on, I would welcome your thoughts.
