Hey everyone, I want to format a decimal/fraction as a number of months. For example, I'd like to enter "=1/12" into a cell and have it show "1 month," or enter "=1.5/12" and have it show "1.5 months."

Is this possible?

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
So basically I want to be able to type =1/12, and then format the cell as 12x&" months" whatever the decimal solution is.

I.e. .083 would show up as "1 month"

This is doable -- to some extent. You would get integer numbers only -- no 1.5 months.

Format the cell as ?" month(s)"/12 -- you should see 1 month(s)/12 in the cell. Enable Wrap Text in the cell.

Return to the custom formatting, put the cursor between the
" and /; hold Ctrl and press j; click OK. You should see now 1 month(s) in the cell.

You're a wizard
