Hello

I am having a problem formatting data in excel, I am preparing this data to import into a database that i have created.
the problem is as follows:
the raw data i have is for multiple chocolate recipe's that are broken down into the following:
  • Name of recipe
  • weight of ingredients
  • unit of weight of ingredient
  • ingredient name
  • ingredient details
  • step number
  • method for each step
  • finishing ingredient
  • use for the recipe
the thing i cant figure out is how to set this data out to be imported into a database to be displayed on a form
if a recipe has 10 ingredients with 10 units of measurement, 10 quantity's for that unit of measurement, 10 methods for the recipe with 10 steps that need to be picked up in import as all corresponding to one recipe (one name of recipe) how to you split the data so the import knows the weight, unit, ingredient ect is separate but relates to just one recipe name.

im not sure if i have explained this correctly, i have attached a recipe for reference.

thankyou in advance

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.

Hi thanks I figured out I need to format the raw data as a bill of material in order to track the data at all implementation phases as it is split into sub-assemblies, intermediate assemblies and sun-components!
cheers
