I have a spreadsheet of about 500 rows and additional rows are inserted every now and then. To make it easier to read when printed off, I want to shade alternate rows. Any idea how to do this - except manually?

Thanks, Lisa (UK)

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
Highlight your area. Choose conditional formatting from the format menu. Change the drop down box to formula.

enter the formula
=MOD(ROW(),2)=0
and select what color you want to highlight from the patterns tab.

good luck
