i have an access database which we use for employee changes. when the coordinator makes a change, they use the form, which then updates the table and a report is generated for the other user to key into the hr system.

one of the issues - is when mass changes are needed, they do it outside the db and just do a mail merge. I want them to be able to do this in access? any suggesstions for them to do a mass update to the table? should this be thru form or is there a better way they can do a mass update? I do not see any way to do this via form, so just wondering. Thanks

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple

There are several ways to handle this and even dot he "mass mail merge" with Access.

Without knowing the exact design of your database and exactly what you are mass updating, it is impossible to give you any specific advice.

One possible solution would be to use a form in continuous view. =Ths would be similar to a spreadsheet.

If the exact same change needs to be applied to multiple records then an update query could be used.

IMHO, you should NOT be mass updating records. You should be adding a new "transaction" record with the new data. This also builds a history and audit trail. It also allows you to easily undo changes.

Yes use access to do mass changes, with a single update query.
and you can use it for mail merge,
or use Word for the mail merge.
