Hello,

I'm very basic at form usage.
My question is, how do I total a control field with criteria of another field.

My simple calculation in the control field is =Sum([Sales]). What I want to achieve is to only sum [Sales] if [Account] = X

Many thanks.

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
Bind your form to a query and not the table. Then you can have the sum by setting the criteria for the Account equal to X

Use DSum function with criteria. To use form fields, maybe try the solution here. The proper syntax depends on what the field data types are, so rather than repeat, I just provided the link for now. Summing is usually ok when fields contain null, but I'd suggest using Nz function as well. Both are shown there.
