Force x-axis label to be just the years for 1/1/YYYY dates?

I'm using Excel 2016 and I am working on a date chart. The minimum bound is 1/1/2006, the maximum bound is set to 1/1/2017, and the major and minor units are set to one year each. The ranges and intervals of the chart work as intended (my data points do not actually fall on the first day of each year, but the vertical lines are spaced on those dates correctly). However, the x-axis labels all say "1/1/" and then the year. For example: 1/1/2006, 1/1/2007, 1/1/2008, 1/1/2009, 1/1/2010, 1/1/2011, etc. up to 1/1/2017. Is there a way to make the graph cleaner by chopping off the "1/1/" since it's pretty obvious that the vertical line represents the first of each year?

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Click on the axis, use ctrl/1, then at the bottom of the Format Axis task pane, at the bottom is Number. Expand the arrow, then type "yyyy" (no quotes) and click Add.

I did that and it does display only the years, unfortunately there are now four of each year. Or more if I expand the width of the chart out. Is there a way to only show an axis mark at the January 1 spot of each year?
