am considering showing some co-workers how to do a lot of this stuff. Was wondering about the usefulness of showing them how to insert dialog or macro sheets.

Now that I understand Userforms, I don't see anything that Dialog sheets do that Userforms don't do as well or better. Does anybody think I'm wrong?

Also, I've never used the Macro sheets. I'm guessing that these are part of the legacy of old versions of Excel or even Lotus123. Anything useful with them that isn't better handled via the VBA editor?

Thanks for answering this type of general technique/method question.

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
At the risk of sounding stupid, what exactly is a "Macro sheet" or a "Dialog sheet"? I have never heard of either.
I build applications with Userforms and VBA code all the time. Fact is that I rarely perform any calculations on the actual worksheet any more. In the 5 years or so that I have been doing this I have never once come across the stuff that you are talking about. :-?

The "usefulness" would only serve as a history lesson, as these objects no longer have practicality. No one serious about business or Excel is still using version 4 or 5, after which all those dinosaur objects became extinct. Don't waste your time with it unless you are starting an office pool trivia test about outdated Excel objects.

that's what I had decided

but never know if I'm missing something. I believe by the time I learned VBA they were already obsolete. Thanks for the reply. I'd decided it would be "too much information".

PY, right-click on worksheet tab and choose 'insert'. you should see a choice for a dialog and a macro there. I've used the dialog, but if you know Userforms, you're better off.
