I have a client who set a database password on a specific Access database. Now, he can't remember password, nor can he get into any other datbase or create a new one because of this forgotton password. Is there a way to clear a database password?

And what happened that caused this?

Thanks.

How did they set the password?

Could this be a symptom of a missing system.mdw file?

That's sort of what I was going to suggest but not a missing mdw file just one that has been changed.

I would try renaming the existing system.mdw file on the clients computer and copying the system.mdw from another computer.

I've definitely had similar problems in the past and the first time it happened that was the solution.

Thanks guys. Turns out someone else uninstalled/reinstalled Office while I was researching resolutions. Client says he's ok now.

I'll keep this info for future issues. This forum is a wealth of info. I'm always learning something.

Again, I appreciate your time and effort.

I think that would probably restore the system.mdw file.
