Finding Updates in a Shared File

Good morning All,

I have a file that has several tabs of information that multiple people have access to update at the same time. When I get the message "Your workbook has been updated by others", is there a way for that message to show me exactly what was updated so that I don't have to go through all of the tabs looking for it?

Thanks.

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Hi katielynn91 - Welcome to the forum! What is it that generates the message "Your workbook has been updated by others" ? If you can somehow have it indicate which cell caused that message to be sent, you could probably have that cell printed out in the message. Something like: "Your workbook has been updated by others - the last cell to change was tab: mytab cell: A4". Hope this helps get things started.

Hi Katie

If you are "sharing" your workbook you can set preferences under the review tab from Excel. Select advanced from the Share Workbook button.

Unfortunately we never seem to hear good reports about this feature of Excel and most people whom share workbooks look for other solutions.
You can make it less unlikely for things to go wrong by "locking cells" and protecting sheet tabs, to limit the information that can be changed within workbooks. It really is a touchy feely subject.

Thanks! I will try this and see what comes of it. :)
