In cell A1 I have a word, for example CAT
In cells B1:B10 I have a list of different words

B1 = CAT
B2 = SCAT
B3 = CATH
B4 = SCATHE
B5= CATS
B6 = DOG
B7 = CATHERINE
B8 = NOCATCH
B9 = HORSE
B10 = GIRAFFE

What I need a formula please is to look at what is in Cell A1, and return the first result that does not contain anywhere within the cell "CAT", so in this example, I need A1 to say "DOG"

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
Excellent!. A bit annoying it cannot be in a merged box, but I will just put this formula in another cell, and reference it back to my merge cell so it works! Thank you!

Confirm with ctrl+shift+enter:

=INDEX(B1:B10,MATCH(TRUE,ISERROR(SEARCH("CAT",B1:B10)),0))
