Hi all,

Re below images:

I am trying to find a way to achieve a formula that fulfils the logic in A2 of the ‘All Completed Runs - Period’ worksheet. i.e. What I want to do is, find where I have completed a parkrun in the ‘All Completed Runs’ worksheet that satisfies the following criteria:
  • The parkrun name begins with the first letter (i.e. the first character) of the Chemical Symbol - Look for this in column AS of the ‘All Completed Runs’ worksheet
AND, where there is a second Chemical Symbol letter (if not just look for the first letter)
  • …The parkrun name contains the second letter of the Chemical Symbol, exclduing the first character (look for this in column BX of the ‘All Completed Runs’ worksheet)
File Link (small OneDrive file - will open quickly): Periodic Table Example.xlsx

Thank in advance!

Olly.

Excel Facts

Difference between two dates
Secret function! Use =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"Y")&" years"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"YM")&" months"&=DATEDIF(A2,B2,"MD")&" days"
How about
Excel Formula:
=TAKE(FILTER('All Completed Runs'!$C$4:$C$2003,(LEFT('All Completed Runs'!$BX$4:$BX$2003)=LEFT(B4))*(IF(LEN(B4)=2,ISNUMBER(SEARCH("?"&RIGHT(B4),'All Completed Runs'!$BX$4:$BX$2003)),1)),""),1)
