filtering unique items from a list

I have a long,long list in which there are repeated items, how can i filter out a list of unique items. Also the items are all text.

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).

Use Advanced Filter, where you check Copy to another location, fill in a cell location for Copy to, and check Unique records only.

I tried that, it gives me an error message :

'You can copy only filtered data to the active sheet.'

any other ideas?

Do it first on the active sheet and then move the result to the desired sheet.

If you use the Macro Recorder you can modify the code to Extract to another sheet.
