First time poster here guys and still learning lots about excel.

So I have a very long spreadsheet of many oil wells, their royalty interest owners, and their respective percentages owned in each well. I am looking for a way to sort the data and find common owners/percentages. This might be a little vague but I don't know how else to tackle this.

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Hi

You could use this formula in an additional column (Say with heading "Count") next to your data...

=COUNTIF($B$4:$B$1000,B4)

Where column B has your names in it with your data starting in row 4 and ending in row 1000. (Amend the formula accordingly)
Copy the formula down the range and it will count the number of times an owners name appears.

You can then use 'Data'...'sort'...'sort by count' ... OK

Which will sort together the owners who have a percentage interest in more than one well
