I am pulling reports off a CRM system and the dates come out in the format 20/08/2024.

Excel doesn't seem to be recognising this as a date, so when I filter it just does so by the first number (e.g. 01/08/2024 would appear before 02/07/2024, which would appear before 03/06/2024 etc)

I have tried changing the formatting of the cells but this doesn't work - is there a quick fix for this?

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Try to multiply all those dates by 1 to verify they are formatted as numbers.

Hi & welcome to MrExcel.

You can also use "text to columns" on the data tab after selecting the column with the dates. Delimited, next, clear all check boxes, next, select DMY from the date box, Finish
