OK, now it's just annoying me.

Whenever I click the filter icon and add filters to a spreadsheet with many columns (for example, a spreadsheet with data in columns A through AC), the screen zooms out to the right so I can see the furthest right column, AC.

Is there any way to turn this "feature" off so that when I add filters, the screen doesn't zoom out to the right? I just want the filter dropdowns to appear in my current view, no zooming.

Hey Weaver,
I've been using the site for a few years, but just signed up last year. It's a pretty good site.

I'm using 2007.

I've also noticed that it only does it if I have "freeze panes" on. If I haven't "frozen" any panes and click filter, it simply adds filters to top row (which is what I want), no flying off to column AC, or however far out to the right I have data.

I've been through about every menu I can think of trying to determine if I've got something enabled/disabled but can't seem to find it. It may simply be a feature of Excel and it's telling me "Hey guy, I'm gonna add filters out this far, see???".

It isn't the end of the world, but it does slow me down. I thought I was a black belt in Excel, guess not...

Hey, I'd not noticed that before!

I think you're right - it's Excel being "Helpful"
