Filter Dropdown Year Order Issue: Sorting Not Working

Hi everyone,


I'm experiencing an issue with the filter dropdown in Excel. When I apply a filter to a column containing dates, the years in the dropdown list are not sorted in ascending order as expected. Instead of seeing "Select all, 2024, 2025," I get "Select all, 2025, 2024."


I've tried sorting the data in ascending order, ensuring the dates are formatted correctly, and clearing/reapplying the filter, but nothing seems to work. I'd prefer not to use a helper column or VBA macros if possible.


Has anyone else encountered this issue? Are there any other solutions or workarounds that might help?

the years in the dropdown list are not sorted in ascending order

That is normal - the years are always listed with the newest at the top and oldest at the bottom.
