filter a report

Is there a way in which I can have only certain records display in a report.
My report is based on a query which contains roughly 20 fields. I'd like only the top 50 from each year displayed on the report. I've tried using the box which is on the toolbar, but it only displays the first year's results, and not the additional 50 years.
