Hello,
I have a sheet which contains several thousand entries where I need to put each sixth entry into a new column.

The first four lines in the new column would be:
Cell 1 =B4
Cell 2 =B10
Cell 3 =B16
Cell 4 =B22

Is there an easy way copy this pattern of formulas down the whole sheet? My new column will have about 2600 entries, so doing this manually would be too much.

Thanks

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
One solution could be:
Excel Formula:
=INDIRECT("B"&(ROW(A1)*6)-2)
But be careful, INDIRECT is a volatile function. Which means, it will recalculate each time you open the file. It may take longer with 2600 rows.

I actually found a solution right after I posted this, I used

=OFFSET($B$4,(ROW(B1)-1)*6,0)

and that has seemingly worked perfectly.

Another option that is not volatile is
Excel Formula:
=INDEX(B:B,ROWS(C$2:C2)*6-2)
