I'm running Windows 11 with Office 365 Desktop for Excel. All of my earnings statements have links to files for each quarter on my network. The network is set up as a trusted location. I've never had an issue running these files, but today, it is taking forever for the file to open, normal to update, and then forever to save. It's saving to One Drive. It was always basically instantaneous before. Any idea what might be causing this? I don't have hours for it to open and save the files.

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type

My first question is, is this problem happening with ALL files on the network or is it just Excel files? If it the case of the former, then you need to contact your local IT department or whoever handles your tech support. This kind of problem happening with files on a network can be affected by several things such as network congestion, network condition, and whether you're a remote worker working on a VPN connection, etc.

It seems to be happening just with Excel files and those with links to other workbooks. I have opened a ticket with my IT Department. It's just odd, as a week ago, these files all ran just fine and today it's slow as molasses.

If you already have a ticket open with your IT department, they should be handling this for you. I understand why you posted here - you wanted to get some ideas on why this might be happening. However like I said previously, this is not a tech support forum. Problems on a company network are entirely different matter compared to solving Excel formulas or other such problems. Furthermore, we have no way of knowing your work conditions is or how you connect to the office. For all we know you could be a remote worker accessing company files remotely via VPN connection.

By the way, I seriously doubt that it's only Excel files that are behaving this way. Have you actually tried to open & save a Word document as an example? If Excel is behaving this way, chances are it's happening with other MS Office applications. Check with your IT department to see if other company employees reporting a similar problem.

FYI, for anyone that runs into the same issue. This ended up being an issue with Office Build 2405. Once I rolled it back to 2404, everything worked like it always had.
