I have 2 problems:
No.1 - computer restarts automatically after shutdown OS is XP
No.2 - logitech keyboards faulty character typing. The @ ' # ~ buttons are typing the wrong characters \| The correct button for \| characters on the left hand side are typing correctly.
I used norton anti virus to scan for faults & virusses. It found a few faults and repaired them but the problems persits! Plse help - I want to avoid max llf - or is that the only option???

Hi

1 Have you updated XP to the latest service pack and,

2 Have you checked to see that the PC is set up for your Country under Settings, Control Panel and Regional and Language options.

Hope this helps

Faulty keyboard character

I tried both solution paths - the problems still persists, thank you for your help anyways.

Yes, try a different keyboard.

You might have the same problem. It might be the keyboard that you've installed for the OS.

Could also be your location in Control Panel. I've got clients in Europe, and their keyboard layout is quite different from the one in the US.

If your keyboard is always typing the same (if wrong) characters when you press a key, than it's almost definitely a configuration issue.

faulty keyboard & re-boot problem solved

Thank you all for your help - I got impatient at the end as I also thought it might be my keyboard and bought another one.. just to find out the problems were still there (i still think it was the original logitech driver that caused the problem although I can't say for certain as I have not used my home computer much until now). Anyways, I did a max llf and reloaded everything (except the logitech driver off course) and everything is working properly now! Touch wood!
