I have been working on large files consisting of 40 entities. Each entity initially has four columns: Prior, Current Period, Variance, and Variance Percentage.
My job is to make several modifications as part of a migration from PeopleSoft to Oracle.
1. **Remove the Variance Percentage column.**
2. **Add a new column for each entity after the "Current Period" column** to include "Quarter to Date Prior" and "Quarter to Date Current".
3. **Insert a VLOOKUP formula in these new columns** to retrieve values. (I do not need a formula).

(Given there are 40 entities, and each entity has four columns, the process involves removing and adding columns for each entity. Is there a faster way to perform these tasks than manually entering the additional columns and removing the variance column for each entity? ---
Also, there are headings on each of 41 entities, Merged & Center over each of four columns; when I delete the first column, the heading is also deleted, so I have to un-merge and move the heading from the first of the four columns to the second, this is pain

Thanks

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
Be thankful it is 40 entities and not 400.
My first step would be to convert the data into a table. If the layout is regular you might be able to do that with a couple of functions otherwise do it manually.
Hard to say more without a sample.
