F1 prediction

Hi, I would like to run a simple formula one prediction game next year and would like to use the last remaining races to trial what ever I get together.

setting the bar low I think, but I just what a top 8 prediction.
8 points for correct position then one point less for out of position, ie: predicted lewis hamilton 3rd and he finished 8th, so there for you would get 5 points.

have set the drivers names in a column (1-8) then the next column would just like to enter actual finished position and excel fill out points in separate cell.

have search for the formula with no success.

spot on, just for instance predicted 1st comes in first you would gets 8 points. but if predicted 1st and came 8th only 1 point. just to throw it in, if they finish outside the top 8 nill points.

Thanks for responding be trying to get this nailed all afternoon.

Hi, if I have predicted snakehips 1st ,then it comes in 1st, it should be 8 points not 0.
When I said spot on was referring to the general look of the sheet.

Yep, on reflection, a bad move!!!
She has seen it and as a consequence my right eye is closing fast.

I've asked her to finish off this post whilst I go to see if there's any steak in the fridge.....

Hi think its getting there, still not fully working, as what I was after is, say you predict all 8, in the correct postion, you would get 64 points, and on the chart above for instance
NELG11 was predicted 2nd and result was 4 there for 2 places from correct position so should recieve 6 points
I appreciate you help on this
