I have a price list with cells containing a value and unit. For example "11.28p/kWh". I need to extract the "11.28" and lose the "p/kWh" but need a way to cope with values that have 0, 1, 2 or 3 decimal places.
I would appreciate any formula able to do this.

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
Excel 365: =--TEXTBEFORE(A1,"p/kWh")
Other versions: =--LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-5)
