Extract sales value from two rows and calculate difference?

Hey guys, I have column A with dates and column B with sales data. I want to find the sales data for the same day/month (assume I am working on two different cases with different levels of granularity) and then calculate the difference between the two.

May I know how do I achieve this? DAX newbie here, so any help would be a lifesaver. Thank you!

If I have a date column and a sales data column beside it, how do I calculate the difference in two sales data of the same month but from different years?

If you subtract 2 dates, you get a value in # of days. Does that help...?

I think that if you are planning to work only with months and years, that it would be interesting to create 2 separate columns for Year and Month.
