Hi Folks, -- I am pulling my hair out. I have an excel file that has the following in a cell:

15005~40450~STDREG07~40452~STDREG81~05989001~12102003~33083002~11939004

I need to extract these values surrounding the tilde (~). Does anybody have any bright ideas? I really don't want to go through 8000 lines of spreadsheet.

I am using Excel 2010

thanks!

Steve Jackson

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
That worked perfectly! Thanks. :) For those of you reading this post -- I put my columns on the end of my spreadsheet -- sine text to columns seemed to overwrite any adjacent columns. Other than that, It worked like a charm, and I had forgotten about how powerful text-to-columns really was.

Glad to help.

Note, surely it gave you a popup warning before it actually overwrote adjescent columns.
Something like
"Do you want to replace the contents of the destination cells?"
With an option to choose OK or Cancel.
