External links/references

When I open up my excel page i get a popup stating that an external reference isn't available (that's normal as the file it points to isn't on my pc)
But as far as I know I haven't used that link to the other sheet in my workbook.
So how can I find were external references are being used?
I tried this (from support microsoft) but the search there stays empty ???

• Press Ctrl+F to launch the Find and Replace dialog.
• Click Options.
• In the Find what box, enter .xl.
• In the Within box, click Workbook.
• In the Look in box, click Formulas.
• Click Find All.
• In the list box that is displayed, look in the Formula column for formulas that contain .xl. In this case, Excel found multiple instances of Budget Master.xlsx.

Any other ways I can see that?

You probably looked at the following Microsoft page: Find links (external references) in a workbook - Microsoft Support

But then you stopped at the first case (links within formulas), whereas the document continues with the instructions on how search links in other positions, mainly Named range and Charts...
