I have this sheet to get external data from a website. I have the username and the password to access it which is basic authorisation ,

However, I want to share this file with my colleagues , the excel required them to enter usernames and passwords. However, this username and password are confidential and cannot be shared.

Is there anyway I can save the username and password in THAT sheet itself ? Or any other options please ?

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
You can pass the values in code, but if you don't protect the code project, anyone can read the values. If you password protect the code and lose the password you will not get back in to view the code so a backup of the code might be a good idea.

Not sure I see much of a difference between using the credentials in code versus giving them to anyone if that means they can use the file as if they knew the credentials. Perhaps you mean to use the credentials only if the user is authorized. That is something your code would have to handle.

Thanks for this.

I'll can protect the code, so that is ok. As far as the access to that website is concerned- it is fine for anyone to click on, but because that sheet has information from certain dbs as well - not everyone who gets that sheet can use it to its fullest extent.

Having said that - how do I pass the username and pwd via Macro ?

I probably don't know. I say probably because I have no idea what "it" is

To me, "it" could be the website or the Excel file. If it's the website you'd have to research how to open web addresses using vba - something I've never done.

Can't you just hide whatever they shouldn't see in the sheet, then protect the workbook (assuming that's what you meant)?
