I am attempting to import external .TXT files into Access using an established Fixed Width Import Specification format. When doing this I am running into issues where the data file is being imported without maintaining the data file's sequential structure. I have attempted to do this on numerous computers with MS Access 2007 and numerous files of the same structure, but differing data and sources of data and it keeps happening. Any thoughts?

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.

Are you importing into an existing table or is the import creating a new table?
If the order the data is being imported in is important, then adding an Autonumber field should do the trick for you.

If importing to an existing table, add the Autonumber field to the end of table. You don't even need to account for it in your Import Specs.
If creating a new table via your import, it will ask you if you want to add an Autonumber field. Say "Yes".
