Export Data to Excel for non-Access users

Hello,

Does anyone know how to export Query data from Access to Excel for non-Access users? For myself, I use the Data-->Import External Data to retrieve the information (where I put in Parameters to filter my selection). And I know that I can save the Excel spreadsheet for auto updated data (or not). My problem is that I have about 100 users in need of the data. And I do not want to have them all set up a shared drive to link the External Data spreadsheet to (because the location of the database is in a confidential server and/or the user may already be using that drive letter for another file share). I've also tried to export the tables as links and queries to another Access database on another shared drive, but the Excel Data Import still requires the user to be mapped to the confidential drive because Access goes to both databases.

1) Is there a way to map to a "\\not-a-lettered-drive" instead of "k:\\this-is-a-lettereddrive"? I think I may have a solution if this is possible.
2) Is there another approach to have my users obtain the Query data through Excel without having to install Access on their machine or going to the confidential drive?

I am also aware of the Data Access Page (web page) option. That would be ideal as I can definately put the database on a web server, BUT Internet Explorer and Access do not seem to have a good Excel export feature. A nice little button at the bottom of the html IE report would be awesome, but I don't know how to create a command button for it. Suggestions or solutions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for viewing. I hope answers to this post can assist anyone else in the same situation.

Hi

You can use a fully qualified network path instead of a drive letter if that helps - just use the "\\Servername\SharedDirname\filename.mdb" and it should work ok. FYI I've used this in VBA code to open up a text file where the end-users may have the same share mapped to different 'drive' letters.

Hope this helps
