Hi,

I'm a low level VBA programmer wannabie looking to increase her skills and knowledge base a) to help my career b) to pad out my resume and c) just for the sheer fun of it ! I'm currently working with VBA quite a bit and starting to integrate with Lotus Notes.

I'm concentrating on brushing up my VBA, but is there anything else I could add to give my skills a pep up ?

What would you recommend ?

Excel Facts

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
Hi, Thanks for the suggestion. I already have a few books as, along with this forum, it's helped me learn.

Stepping away from VBA though, are there any other skills/systems/languages that would improve my "all rounder-ness" ?

SQL? .NET? XML? there are so many, it's hard to know which would be more useful for a generalist like myself. I'm not into the network side of IT, I'm looking to improve my developer skills ...

I'd probably look into .NET and perhaps VSTO (Visual Studio Tools for Office), which lets you use .NET to code to Excel. It's included with Visual Studio 2008 and is an add-in for 2005.

The downside is the expense, but if you're serious about it then it will probably be worth it in the long run.

HTH,

If you have a chance, I would suggest a course in "Logic" or "Creative Problem Solving"
