I had a workbook which became monstrously large for no reason (100mb).

I copied and paste special values the tabs into a new workbook which reduced the size to ~120kb.

However now, when I copy a row into the row below, it brings up the save as prompt every time.

Why is this happening?

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.

Hi Captain Hindsight,

Is this only happening in the one workbook or in all your workbooks?

If it is only this one workbook, are there any macros or VBA rules set up in it?

Only one workbook. I am using Excel 2010 so if I go to the developer tab > Macros, it shows nothing as being active in my open workbooks.

Not sure about VBA rules, there shouldn't be.

Thanks for your response

Hmm, and if you right-click on each sheet name and select View Code there are no hidden snippets of VBA in there? Or if you right-click on ThisWorkbook from the developer window there is no VBA code in there either?

Nope.

I think I have solved this however. There was a vlookup formula which should have been linking to a tab in the workbook, however in the link it had changed to C:\ .......

When I put these back to a formula as I would expect it to appear in the workbook, the saving problem has ceased.

Thanks for your help.
