My 300kb Excel 2007 spreadsheet won't calculate simple formulae like sums, additions and subtractions. The spreadsheet also has CSEs, sumproducts, iferrors, maxifs, etc.

My setup:
Computer: Compaq laptop NC8430
CPU: intel core duo, 2 ghz, 3gb RAM
OS: XP service pack 3
Excel: 2007

I have tried both manual (F9) and automatic calculation, opening and closing the spreadsheet, opening and closing excel, and re-booting my computer. None of this has any effect.

There are no circular references.

The only thing that works is if I edit the formula with F2-enter.

Needless to say, this is very maddening...has anyone run into this problem?

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
Is the spreadsheet excessively large?

Have you 'dirtied' so many cells that Excel has reached its limits?

If the above is true, can it be reduced in size?

I don't think it's very large but I do use quite a few CSE forumlas. There are only 10 tabs, 7 of which are data, and the rest have the formulas. The spreadsheet is 300kb, but that might be misleading because it seems like 2007 file sizes are a lot smaller than, say, 2003 files.

Hopefully :)

Did it work?

I did the find/replace (and it found 5500 occurences). Not sure if it worked because I manually edited the offending cells before doing so.
I also changed the calculation to manual and it seems to be OK so far.

HOwever, I have run into this issue before, with other spreadsheets.

Is there only a limited number of 'offending cells'?

What did you do to rectify the problem last time?
