Hello everyone,
I am rather new here posting but this forum has anonymously helped me solve some of my Excel struggles.
So let me try to simplify and explain my current issue i do not manage to find a solution for.
I have an Excel table (1,000+ rows) from 2012 which is my basic starting point for 2015 calculations.
I need to compose nested function/ formula that
1. finds matching numbers/ codes of each employee - i would use vlookup
2. goes to cell XY and makes a test - if my cell is linked to validation sheet where I have all allocation keys, etc, take an exact formula/ number from validation sheet (will copy it into new workbook). Otherwise, if the cell contains number (just typed in) then copy that number. I would use IF formula.
I would like to avoid having links to some other documents (2012 file) or circular linkage to 2012 sheet but to simplify it and have it in one new workbook.
However, I do not manage to construct the formula so it works and it would be of a tremendous help and save me loads of time. Maybe my idea how to solve it with vlookup and IF functions is completly wrong so please feel free to suggest anything more comprehensive.
Besides, this is great opportunity for me to learn something new. Thanky you very much for any advice.
Best, fina
