Excel Version Question

I have saved a couple of files as web pages that simply link to a excel data entry workbook. However, each time I save and reopen the workbook, a new version is created and I cannot see any of the information that was previously saved. The file name at the top shows the new version in parentheses. For example, my file is titled "data entry" and is a macro-enabled excel file. When I use the webpage to open the file, it says "data entry (2)". The next time I open it, it says "data entry (3)", etc....

How can I get Excel to open the same exact file from our server each time without creating a new version?

Thanks in advance for any advice. I have searched everywhere on the internet and cannot find this subject.

Have you tried doing a SaveAs and making sure the file name is the same? It should as you if you want to replace the current.
