Please allow me to describe to two items I have created.


First – Excel Workbook: My Excel Workbook contains multiple tabs (up to 40) with each tab representing a device my guys are working on at a particular location. There are multiple and variable number of devices at the location therefore, when my guys have completed all of their devices, there will be multiple tabs filled in and the workbook saved to a folder.


Second – Word Document: I have created a .dotx and defined multiple fields in the document with each field defined with a unique Tag ex: the first field defined is Tagged as ProjectName. I then saved the template as a .docx file and this is the document my folks use to record completion status when they are at a location doing work on the various devices.


The Excel Workbook works great and the Word Document works fine also however, I am asking my guys to enter into the Word Document much of the information they already reported in the Excel Workbook. So, my questions are:


1) How can I open a Word Document from Excel? I tried using some of the example in the forum but, at best, when I try running the examples from a test workbook, my system seems to go into some kind of a loop.


2) Once I open the Word Document, How can I update the Tags with the data from my worksheets? Can Tags be referenced or do I need to create bookmarks for each of the fields. I could not find anything similar in the forums that would provide an example using Tags.


3) Say that what I’m trying to accomplish makes sense. Is the .docx file the file I should be using or should I use the .dotx file?
