Excel to google Sheets

Hi this might be backwards and if you know of a better place to get this info please let me know

At work we get a huge data set in an excel spreadsheet, I would like to save that and pull specific data into google sheets, so that our reps can see their numbers - I'm not sure if there is a formula or a way this can be done.

It's not possible just to upload the spreadsheet into Google Sheets? Does it need to have some live connection that is updated from the source every time the Google Sheet is opened?
