Hi Guys,

dont know if i posted this in the right thread, anyway i have an interview coming up for a data assistence role where i will monitoring the quality of the data, I will be asked to do a test on excel where there will be a series of extracts from linked tables in the database, and i will asked to identify any data quality issues. It's more so they can see approach the task, and get an idea of your Excel skills at a practical level.

if anyone can provide me any usefull stuff i should go over on excel or any good tip on excel which is needed to check the quality of data i would be very greatful

thank you

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
ask if they know what a pivot table is, if they don't then they are not hired.

its as simple as that.

Agree with the pivot table. Also see if there's different naming conventions for the same data (ie. some full names in cells, some last names/first names, etc.).
