Does anyone know or have any experience about Excel Tests for interviews.

I can find some online but i would like them to be excel based within the spreadsheet, rather than online or printable.
Interactive would be much better but cannot find any.
Also, at this point im looking for basic free types rather than cost.

If anyone has any background on this or knows where there may be some available, i would appreciate a heads up.

thanks

Thanks hiker, however the tests arent for myself. We are hiring a new reporter within our team. Whilst I have fairly advanced skills for formulas, aesthetics and functionality, my skills with vba and sql are limited.

Trying to come up with a test for interviewing candidates to see whose skills may compliment my own. Access would be a bonus but vba and linking into to intranet systems is what we are after. No idea where to start as what they say they can do/qualified in, and what they actually can put into practice seem to be massively different.

I've read through quite a few forum threads on similar and i have looked around the web, but what i wanted to stay away from was word document based tests. I wanted to present them with an interactive test within excel.
I dont want to give anyone the chance to bring in spreadsheets that they havent created and pass them off as their own. I'd much rather present them with a test there and then. I will keep looking and thanks for the replies hiker.

I don't think you're going to find anything. Code is pretty subjective, if you can't write it yourself; then you can't really assess whether someone knows what they are doing. Writing code in interviews is pretty common for programming jobs, but the questions are set by the person interviewing based on what they are looking for. Getting someone to pass the FizzBuzz test should weed out a lot of pretenders and there's a thread here where a guy went for an Excel interview requiring code and he posted the test he was given Excel VBA Programmer Interview as a starter for 10
