Excel "T-card" board

I need to design an electronic t-card board for work (for booking in jobs etc.)
We are very limited to the software I can use so it would ideally need to be done in Excel.

I want something that will look something like this:
312.jpg

I will need to be able to enter data manually as well as importing data from csv files.

Also if possible I would like to have cells that expand when you click on them...ie. when looking at the "board" you will see the customer name and a date but when you click on the cell it would expand to show additional data such as addresses and orders etc. (much like a t-card would look if you removed it from the board above).

Ideally I would be able to move a customer card from one column to another as jobs progress.

Is this something that is at all possible to achieve in Excel? And how would I go about it?
I am pretty confident in Excel with formulas and Pivots etc. but I just don't know where to start with this one (or how to get expandable cells)

It would need to work in Excel 2003 btw

Many thanks!!

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
Bump... any suggestions/help would be very greatly appreciated.

I am upgrading to Excel 2013 so perhaps that would have more options?

I think you'd have to be happenstantially fortunate if someone on the board is familiar with T-Cards (I had to look them up). And what you want isn't complicated, but would have lots of little pieces. Surely there is a commercial software equivalent.

On the cheap and cheerful side, you could put comments in cells that contain the ancillary information, color the commented cells as you like, and then drag them around.

Hi,

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately we are not able to purchase any additional software so atm it's Excel or nothing!

There will be 1000's of entries of data so I don't think having comments will be very clear...

And I'm not sure what else to call it other than a t-card board, lol. I don't know if there's another name for it...

The comments won't appear until you hover over the cell.

Sorry, that's a very good point, lol

Is there anyway to get Excel to enter information into comments by itself?

Umm -- by itself? No.

I don't know how to answer your question because I don't understand the interface you have in mind.
