I use excel to track stocks and mutual funds using Stocks/Data. Refresh is set to auto with update every 5 minutes. Several cells work, like Ticker, Last Close and last trade time, but I find that none of the data cells with period returns (e.g. YTD, 1 mo., 3 mo., return etc.) are not returning the correct values. I have tried re-opening excel, hard-closing excel in Task Manager and deleting/re-inserting cell value. Any suggestions?

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Welcome to the Forum.

I don't quite see what you're getting at. Stock Data Types do not report returns. Are you trying to calulate returns using function STOCKHISTORY?

Thank you for the reply. No, instead the cell formula is (where B1 is the Stock Data Type for a mutual fund): "=B1.[Return(YTD)]". This would show the year-to-date return of the mutual fund. A similar approach is used for a 3-month return, 1-year return, etc. I know the Data Type is correct, and other data based upon this also is correct (such as the closing price of the fund (written as "=B1.Price"). The problem is that the interest rate returned for the year-to-date, 3-month etc. is not correct. For example, it reports the YTD return for Vanguard fund VMGMX as 14.87% when in actuality it is a different number.

Are you tracking Last trade time? If not, try adding it to see if it is returning the expected date/time. I have observed instances when the expected date/time is not returned and have had to Refresh Settings to get a needed update.
