F3 to paste a name into a Formula.
Alright! So, I don't use Name Ranges a lot but they are cool.
So, if i wanted to name these three cells based on the labels that are adjacent, I will go to Formulas and say Create from Selection.
Using the names in the top and the left column.
Alright! So, what I have done now is that cell is now called Revenue, this cell is now called Cost of goods sold cell.
and this cell is now called expenses.
So, If I wanted to build a formula, there was Revenue minus Cost Of Goods Sold minus Expenses.
I could actually to start equal and then F3.
Depending up to the Paste Names, just choose Revenue Enter minus F3 Cost Of Goods Sold minus F3 and Expenses.
And there are built the formulas.
Formulas might be easier to read.
I never had to type anything.
Alright! Now, this keyboard shortcut probably used to be very important.
But now is less important because we have a formula Auto Complete.
So, If I type Rev tab minus COG minus EXP and I have to type the next letter there.
Alright! We get the exact same formula without ever having to use using SHIFT+F3.
But the place where this is really useful is it for creating a new Rule.
And use a formula to edit some of the cells to format.
Yeah Formula Auto Complete doesn't work here.
Alright! So, being able to use F3 to paste a name that we know that we setup up.
would actually be useful in this dialog box.
So, that is going to be cool way.
A bonus tip here is this formula was built before these Name Ranges existed.
Alright! And so, its just using Cell references.
If I wan to change this now, I am going to go to Formula and then Apply Names.
Edit, pre choose of those.
Click Okay!
Okay I wanna thank you for stopping by.
We'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
