New in Excel for Microsoft 365: Hold down Ctrl and Shift while scrolling the wheel mouse to scroll sideways.
Transcript of the video:
Learn Excel from MrExcel Podcast episode 2402.
Scroll sideways in Excel Hey welcome back to the MrExcel netcast.
I am Bill Jelen.
We have a brand new feature that came to Microsoft 365.
We've always been able to scroll with the wheel mouse right?
If I scroll the wheel towards me it scrolls down.
Scroll the wheel away from me it scrolls back up.
And if you hold down CTRL while you do that you can zoom out or zoom in.
We always had that.
But what they just added is CTRL and Shift.
If I hold down control and shift and now scroll the wheel towards me, I'll scroll to the right.
And scroll the wheel away from me.
It scrolls to the left.
Isn’t that crazy? Now we've already had the ability - if you have a mouse where the wheel mouse is actually a button.
So if I choose that cell.
If I press the button down and then drag to the right.
First, it scrolls slowly at the right, but if I drag further right, it starts going insanely fast.
Alright, so you want to watch how far that arrow is from the original cell and I can scroll back to the left.
Now this one for me is really hard to control because I tend to want to just drag the mouse too far and the next thing I know I'm way down below the data or something like that.
And then it takes forever to get back up.
Alright, so I'm not a huge fan of this.
But I can see this new Ctrl + Shift + Wheel Mouse to go right.
Wheel mouse the other way to go left will be a cool cool feature.
Check out my new book MrExcel 2021.

It has all kinds of great new tips like these.
